so guys I want to connect my xb1 with a monitor having dvi so i know that for video i gotta buy hdmi to dvi and for audio i gotta go with that s/pdif kinda thing but my main concern is that will it degrade the quality and if so then how much? my monitor's res.is 1280x1024 and currently i use it on a 1080p tv. so how much qulaity degradation will i experience? will i be able to understand whats written in the screen or nah?

i wouldn't think there would be any because DVI really is just a DVI connection without the audio combined. but i guess it depends on the quality of the adapter. one concern i would have is would the xbox one encrypt the singnal with HDCP which would not allow any video input. i know the 360 didn't though

It's dependent on the monitor supporting one of the resolutions the Xbox One supports. I know for sure that it supports 720p and 1080p. Otherwise you won't get a signal, consoles are not as flexible as PCs and do not support a wide range of resolutions.

I dont know that either but people have been doing it. some tutorials are on youtube too but i cant judge the quality through a video

my monitor is a bit above 720p (1280x1024 while 720p is 1280x720) so will it transmit video signal without degradation of quality?

There wont be any quality degradation. DVI is capable of up to 2560x1600 and supports 7.92Gbps bandwidth. That is more than enough bandwidth to push 1280x1024.

The real question is how will the XB1 handle it? How will games? Most games are being designed for 16:9 ratios on consoles (PC games support more) so I wouldn't imagine the game devs have designed the hud to run at a 4:3 resolution.
