When I run the installation file for the driver, it'll tell me that it's only designed for Windows 7+. Is there another way to get the Xbone controller to work on Vista?

How is the Xbox 360 driver going to help them for an Xbox One controller?

You CAN install the driver, but you'll have to do it manually
you'll need to download a .cab file from Microsoft update catalog website using internet explorer (ActiveX), then install the .inf file using device manager
instructions and links at xbox support website
http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/connect-xbox-one-controller-to-pc

you'll find the links under "Windows 7 and 8.1" (you can ignore that they said it's for 7 and 8.1 only)

I approve that it works, I did install it on a Windows Vista laptop

(sorry for replying to an old thread btw)
