Question Xbox one controller not working anymore

So I bought a wired xbox one controller for 60 Euros. It worked fine for 2 weeks and I came from work today to see that the controller light isn't on anymore. I've been troubleshooting this for an hour now and I'm desperate.

What I've tried:

-Reinstalling the drivers
-Unplugging then plugging it in again
-Restarting my PC

My PC doesn't even recognize it as being plugged in, not even as an unknown device. It does work with batteries but I don't have a reciever for Xbox One controllers. What I did notice is when I plug the cable in the PC, an orange light on the cable blinks for a split second and then nothing.

Which "wired" controller? A true wired controller doesn't take batteries.

Assuming you're using a wireless controller, connected with a micro-USB cable?
If so, try using an alternate micro-USB cable to confirm whether it's the issue or not.
