I have been using an xbox one controller for steam games and am hoping I can also use it with origin games. Problem is it does not seem to work or I am missing how to do it. Does anyone know if/how to use my gamepad with the origin games?

I know the controller is working since I have been using it with steam for a few days now. what am I missing for it to work with origin? all i did to work with steam was install the drivers from microsoft's hardware site and steam did the rest as it recognized the controller and let me use it with whatever game i have tried.

Whether your gamepad works straight out of the box is not dependent on whether you got your game on Steam or Origin but on whether the game itself supports Xbox controllers straight out of the box. Most modern titles are just plug and play with an Xbox controller, but there are some games out there where you may have to manually configure a controller to work, either through in game options, or using software like Xpadder. It might help to know exactly what game you have on Origin that isn't automatically picking up a configuration for your Xbox controller.

thanks for the info. as soon as i read it i shrunk into my seat about 6 inches. never occurred to me the game itself did not support the controller or needed a bit of configuring first.

my first jump into pc gaming of any kind besides bloons td and plants v zombies. 😀 got a handful of games with some amd parts and a few freebies from origin been sitting on and finally have the horse power (and desire) to play. thought i'd give battlefield 3 a try since i've had it for a couple months now and never even started it up.

feel like an idiot but at least i know what to do for new games now if it don't work natively.

Good thing is, it will work natively for about 95% of games.

that's what i was reading so i made sure to stick with an original microsoft controller and not and aftermarket 3rd party one. i also wanted a wired one since i also read the wireless ones can have problems.

any idea how hard it is to find a 360 wired controller these days?!?!?!?! ended up with a wired xbox one controller that toys r us had on sale for $30. so far seems to work with everything but plants v zombies and bejeweled 3 heheheehe
