Hello

I'm looking for a new platform to game on...I was thinking on getting a Gaming pc (Fx 8320 & r7 260x) or an XBOX ONE and i dont know which one is better for me since there are some factors to keep in mind...

- I live in chile and there are many people who play on PC and PS4. (the xbox one will come out in september) So if i get an XBOX one now i would have to play with people from mexico or nearby countries, i can even play on US servers but im afraid that i will experience lots of lag due to my ping.

- I have a 1mbps internet connection (To download BF4 on pc it would take me 8 days, downloading during midnight and stop it when i wake up, and yeah that's kind of sad)

- I'm a teenager with no income and i don't want to ask my parents for money, so i decided to sell my old computer and my xbox 360, and i also got some money that i've been saving to buy games or to buy computer hardware.

-Im a big fan of Halo (That's why i dont want to get a ps4), but at the same time i always wanted to play BF4 on pc (I can play on xbox one too, but with lag on some US servers

- XBOX ONE: $600
My custom gaming pc: $800+

So yeah, i don't know what to do, i NEVER ask this kind of questions, but i really don't know what platform is better for me and i need someones opinion. I don't even know if this is the right part of the internet to ask this question

Is a gaming PC worth it for me? or should i just buy an XBOX ONE?

Thanks for taking the time to read this (Sorry for my bad english and for the long text)

PC Gaming is more expensive in the beginning, but worth it in the long run, Its cheaper to buy an Xbone, but on the xbone games are more expensive, You have to pay to go online and Games aren't as fun, On the PC You can get games at ridiculously low prices, You can play with friends for free without monthly fees, and since you can upgrade you're parts PC Will outlive the xbone in terms of performance.

I would get a PC if your a budget gamer and games sell for 60$ first week on steam then 3-8 weeks later is down on special for 29$ around there and humble bundles and all that.

Consoles are great if you don't want to do maintenance cleaning and such all the time and pay 60$ for games with rarely any discounts or buy used copies.

With PC you can do what ever you want its up to you

This comes down to preference, and I would recommend the XBone. After 2-5 years you XBone will be able to play the games that are comming out. They will not look as good as on PC, but your PC will not be able to play them except maybe on lowest quality so then your Xbone will be playing the games with better graphics. But then you could buy better GPU and CPU motherboard == New PC for XXX amount of money. Also if you have friends that you want to play with the XBone is more fun. That is if they want to come over and play some games.. like Fifa 15.... BUT Games cost more for Xbox and you are limited to controller. As Im no expert on XBone I cannot say if it supports mouse and keyboard. But this what I say. I do not have XBone or PS4. My friends have and I see myself buy either XBone or PS4 in the near future.
Also games tend to be better optimized on Consoles, and PC's get crappy ports. At least that is my feeling.
So +1 for XBone here :)

Hi, I live in Bolivia, PC is always superior than console gaming, also now you can use an xbox one/360 controller for your PC. Getting into PC gaming is not cheap and it costs more money, but you can always upgrade depending on your needs. Games are cheaper on PC as well, so in the long run you will end up saving in games. I downloaded BF4 from origin in 3 days with a 1.5mb connection 24/7. BF4 on PC has servers in Chile so don't worry about that. If you need help in Spanish send me a message to cabudinen@gmail.com. PC gaming is more like a hobby, you are always messing around with settings resolutions, mods, overclocks. Console gaming is plug and play. On PC you will always have problems running games, and if you don't know what you are doing you are gonna have a hard time, but you can always learn. I would still recommend PC over Consoles any day, since its a way better experience IMO. Good Luck!

I've had the Xbox One for about 8 months now, you will love your Xbox man. I have had no problems whatsoever with my Xbox. Great speed, great graphics, great everything! :3 But, as for where you live I would have no info on that.

Because I had some experience with this let me give you a couple of suggestions. There are lots of cheap builds that you can get in the range of 600 dollars that will pretty much max out games. Toms even does the configurations. Since I know that chile (hopefully I am thinking about the right country) has some pretty crazy important taxes, there are some websites that allow you to buy hardware at us prices and ship them from a residential us adress to other countries, it isn't cheap, but it is cheaper than the import taxes. Since it comes from a residential adress, it cannot be taxed the same way. Also, don't forget that pc games are cheaper, can still be bought on dvds, function as more than just a game system. Xbox's have a near ten dollar plus licensing fee which is why they are so expensive.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention that xbox's have a hard time playing things at 1080p, while most 600 dollar builds have no problem doing that. The ps4 beats the xbone because the system specs are higher. Lastly, remember that both the consoles have a recurring online fee, whereas pc has nothing of the sort.

Keep in mind you're asking this question on a website frequented by hardware enthusiasts. While they offer good advice, they also enjoy ripping open their PCs and constantly upgrading to keep up with the graphical demands of the latest games. But I get the impression that's not who you are.

In my opinion, gaming is best on Xbox. It may not have the power or upgradability of a PC, but that won't stop game developers from creating increasingly detailed and rich visuals as the console ages. Just look at how beautiful some of the more recent Xbox 360 games are compared to launch titles. Optimization counts for a lot. You'll also be connected to the Xbox Live community which will make matchmaking simpler and more social than what you'll find on PC.

I game on Xbox rather than PC because it takes the fuss out of it. Pop in the disc and you're good to go; no worries about whether your system can handle the game and multiplayer just works. If you don't already have a set top box for streaming Netflix / Hulu, then Xbox will serve that purpose better than a PC would too. You can do all the same on a PS4, but for a Halo fan, the choice is obvious.
