Per the title, I currently run an Xbox one X and an Asus VG248QE. It has come to my attention that 120 hz is possible, but I have yet to figure out whether or not the DVI Port to HDMI is an amenable solution. I've read numerous posts.. I've read Glenwing's whole thread, which is why he is addressed in the title, and I still do not have a definitive answer.

Please don't derail this thread. Xbox one x is capable of 120 hz, which isn't a debate or skepticism anymore. As such, I'm searching for a simple and concise answer as to whether or not the adapter I have purchased from Amazon will work, and if not, what measures I will need to take to achieve this experience.

I appreciate your time and consideration.

All the best,
Andrew

No, it is not possible. All DVI to HDMI adapters are Single-Link only (even if they say "Dual-Link", they are fake). 1080p 120 Hz requires Dual-Link DVI, which is not possible with a DVI to HDMI adapter.

You can try using an HDMI to DisplayPort active adapter, but no guarantees.

Thanks for the fast response. You seem like the most knowledgable on the matter. At the moment I'm still waiting for a reply from ASUS technical support. However, it seems like you have given me a possible alternative. And, your hunch seems to be correct, as the comment section indicates precisely what you believe.

Since I cannot attach a screen shot the comment specifies:
"Best Thing ever !! Silky smooth !

1.I get a Solid 1080p 120hz when using my gaming laptop hooked to my 120hz monitor !

2. I also get 1080p 120hz on my Xbox one X !!! I never though it would work since my monitor only does 120hz via Display port/DVi-D !!! but it worked

Attention all console players with xbox one x or xbox one s and the Asus VG248QE. We have a solution that is confirmed.

Today the original 5.99 DVI to HDMI came in the mail. Despite, Glenwing's statements, and what seemed to be a clear consensus the product works flawlessly. You do not need to utilize the fix suggested by Gleaning. Simply purchase the cable from the link below and plug in!

I am running 120 hz, 1080p, and it couldn't be better! (Confirmed it via monitor and xbox itself.)
