Hey guys, I recently upgraded my graphics card to an XFX Radeon 6870 HD 2GB. The installation went well and Windows recognizes the device. The problem I have is that my display essentially looks like crap. Nothing is really sharp and crisp. Words look sort of "blurry" and "pixely". My mouse is also really laggy. Its not jerky or anything its just really slow and laggy feeling. I did an auto detect and installed the driver that was recommended to me.(14.12 AMD Catalyst Omega Software). I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before or has any advice for me. My display is a 26" Sanyo DP 26640 connected to the video card via HDMI cable.

My machine has the following specs that may be helpful

Gigabyte GA EP45 UD3P Motherboard
3.16 gHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
2 GB RAM
XFX Radeon 6870 HD Graphics Card
Windows 8.1

Any advice would be great.

I have another display, HP LV2311. I am awaiting the delivery of a DVI cable so I can connect it. Maybe that'll work? I'd like to have this connected to this Sanyo TV if I could though. Thanks in advance for the help!

Solution
That's a weird issue, I have the exact same card connected via VGA cable, using a DVI adapter and it works like a charm for me. I suspect your card might be broken.

Thanks for the reply!

Hmm, possibly. I bought it from my roommate who said that he had no problems with it and that it ran good. I should have a DVI cable coming in today. Im going to grab a DVI to VGA adapter and see if I can get good results from that. I hear weird things about HDMI cables and how they sometimes give poor quality. I've heard DVI/VGA is the way to go for reliability so I'll give it a shot and post my results!

What type of display are you connected to?
