[SOLVED] Xeon E3-1220 v3 upgrade advice

I have a Gigabyte B85M-D3H with a Gigabyte GTX 960 2GB card and 8 GB of Corsair DDR3 ValueRAM. Currently using a Pentium G3240. Game a little (CS:GO, World of Warships, C+C, etc). Should I opt for a Xeon E3-1220 v3 and if so how do I go about it? Do I just swap out the CPU and voila? Any and all help and advice appreciated.

That CPU is supported on that motherboard as long as you have the F12 or newer BIOS -- https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/GA-B85M-D3H-rev-10-11/support#support-cpu

If your BIOS is new enough, then you should be able to swap in the Xeon and boot it. It will make you enter the BIOS but Windows should not care.
