Xeon E3-1225 v3 vs i7-3770 for a streaming/encoding PC?

Hello!

I have an old Lenovo TS140 that I use as a homeserver, it is rocking the E3-1225 v3, this is what it came with. However, I also have an old i7-3770 lying around from my old PC.

I want to use one of the two to make a dedicated streaming/encoding PC. Which CPU would be better for this? I have the components needed to make either one work, I just need to know which one would get the job done/is capable of encoding a 1080p 60fps (preferably) stream.

They are very similar but I would choose the I7 that has HT.

i3-1225 v3 is 4 c 4t haswell and i7-3770 is 4 c 8 t ivy bridge.

Haswell is at same speed 5% - 10 % better than I.B. but i7 has ht.
