Recently bought a e5-2603 off ebay to verify that my msi x99a raider was dead. It arrived and the key slots for the socket dont line up with the sockets keys so the cpu doesnt seat. It was my understanding this cpu should fit. Its supported by the board. The cpu came in bubble wrap and there was adhesive on top of the pcb. I'm thinking I got a cpu that had a new lid put on it and it's not the right cpu.

Should this cpu fit?

Solution
The Xeon you bought uses FCLGA2011 but your motherboad has a FCLGA2011-3 socket. You will need to get an FCLGA2011-3 CPU which will be far more expensive than the $20 you likely spent.
