I am finally getting around to building a new rig and have decided to go with the X99 platform. I have purchased the ASUS X99-E WS/USB 3.1 motherboard and was wondering if I could plop a Xeon E5-2696-V3 in the socket and expect it to work without issue? ASUS's site says that this board supports both E5-1600-V3 and E5-2600-V3 series of processors in addition to 2011-v3 i7 processors. Their site also states that the Xeon E5-2699-V3 is supported, and from what I've been told, the only difference between the E5-2699-V3 and the E5-2696-V3 is the model number; apparently the E5-2696-V3 was an Engineering Sample? Any input is appreciated!
