Xeon L5420 for gaming

Solution

If you need a $50 processor the try to replace some parts with cheaper parts to try to at least get a Pentium anniversary or else you could be suffering serious performance issues or try to raise your budget limit, keep the stuff and get a decent Pentium anniversary
Wouldn't be very good, it's like 7 years old, even though it was good in it's time, it won't do much more than normal google searches and checking email.

(I've dealt with outdated processors that were good in their time, trust me, you're better off with an up to date processor )

What is your budget?

He said he wanted a *budget* gaming PC......................

That i7 is 10 times more expensive than the Xeon he was asking about.............

Lol I know. I just said that if he wanted to upgrade in the future. The i3 is a little more expensive but is defined,y a lot better but the $80 Pentium anniversary is very good for overclocking but it is only a dual core which is starting to become unsupported for games with far cry 4 being one of them

A budget PC isn't going to be playing Far Cry 4.......
Even my CPU doesn't meet the requirements.....

Lol I have a fx 6300 and a r9 270 and it plays far cry 4 perfectly fine at 60FPS at high 2xMSAA. (It's overclocked a little)

What I'm trying to say is that he wants a budget PC, so looking at the Xeon example he gave, probably a CPU under $50......

It's a bad idea to get a processor that's under $50. The performance and build quality would be bad so at minimum I'd say to get a Intel Pentium anniversary ( I forgot what it's actually called but it's the only anniversary so there's that) at minimum for gaming and anything in general. Period.

The thing is that i need an lga775 proccesor under $50 (or at least a gaming pc under $200 NZD) i was gonna use a core 2 quad or something (because i already have an mobo for that)

If the CPU has good graphics you won't need a GPU, I don't use a GPU and I can run a lot of modern games at max settings.

Max settings on a hd 2500....with games from 2002.

I play Team Fortress 2 and War Thunder at max settings...............

Because they aren't demanding games. Try Crysis or gta. :)

To me they are, my old PC struggled to run video and flash games so this is a lot for me 😛

Actually, to be honest, my last pc was a pentium 4 with 1gb ram and no dedicated gpu. LOL

My last PC was an AMD phenom 9850 with 2 gb of RAM and no dedicated GPU and, as I later learned, a fake version of Windows 7 that was slowly corrupting the entire hard drive.

A fake version of Windows 7 corrupting your hard drive?!

That's a LONG story.........
I think it also corrupted the processor though....... Unless it was just a coincidence....

Yeah.......
Basically it was an awful, overpriced PC.
