Does anyone know how well a Pentium D 820 at 2.8 Ghz compares to a single core Xeon 3 Ghz, 2 MB cache, 800 Mhz FSB.

I can't seem to find any benches of these particular cpus.

Also, does anyone know if distributed.net's RC5-72 cracking benefits from dual core? Will the app detect 2 cpu's?

Thanks!

They probably should bench those because I'm seeing a lot of dual core chips being put into servers offered by Dell, HP & others.

Why would you compare an 820 to the xeon 3.0 anyway? Try comparing a 920/930 to the xeon 3.0 and even then there would be no comparison as it's a dual core vs. single core unless your talking about the xeon mp's. The 920/930 also has 2Mb L2 cache per core and an 800FSB.
The cost difference will be rather large as well if you are talking about the mp's. If I'm not mistaken, the mp's are still using the 90nm process and have not progressed to 65nm yet. Whats also interesting is that Intel itself considers the PD's a server CPU.
