Hey i was wondering what is better a Xeon proccesor or a I7 for gaming. i just want a short awnser please :) . i always thought a Xeon proccesor as a CPU for Server hosting and is like a giant beast and could play things like Crysis 3 at Ultra 4k with not even getting to hot. But that was my old judgement. i mostly thought of it like that beccause of the word Xeon. I also thought of a I7 as a beast CPU for gaming but not for Server hosting if u understand what i mean. But this is not important i just want to know which one is better please :)

A Xeon is an i5 or i7 with additional features like ECC memory and multiprocessor interconnects. An i7 and a Xeon with similar specs will perform very similarly.
Xeon ranges from down to i3 equivalents to much higher than an i7. Although having more cores doesn't mean better gaming performance as the ones with more cores are lower clocked. Even i7 aren't even the "top" with mobile i7 being dual cores and thus possibly being outperformed by mobile i5 which are also dual core. These names aren't a division of performance but rather features. On the other hand, it's also marketing, which you fell victim of thinking xeon was better. Or in the case of the dual core i7, that is really purely there for marketing.

It depends heavily on the specific model of Xeon and i7.

The Xeon E3-1230 is near an i7-4770k in performance, but the Xeon is much cheaper.
E5 Xeons tend to perform better than i7s but cost way too much more to ever be considered for a gaming PC.
