Hi,
I want to buy an assembled or brand new CPU. But now I don't know what to select.
My requirements are...
1. Want to run virtual machines on Server 2012 hyperv - at least 6 exchange VMs.
2. Need raid 1
3. Cost of the CPU | mother board should be as less as possible as this is for home lab purpose.
4. The processor should be as latest version as possible

Solution
The xeon 1241v3 is a very good option against the i7 4790 in my opinion. They are almost the same, but the i7 has an integrated GPU.
The xeon is almost 60USD cheaper than the i7. It will be enoght to run 6 VMs in my opinion, but you will need a lot of ram.
The xeon processor will work with a h97 motherboard which at the time are very unexpensive.

I will choose between the xeon 1231v3, the 1241v3 or if you need the integrated cpu I would go for the xeon 1246v3 which is also cheaper.
I'm of course talking about very unexpensive CPUs, It all depends on you budget.
