Xeon W-2135 or Core i9-7900X for a 4 GPU DL PC

Hi,

I am about to build my DL rig an intend to use it for neural network modelling starting with 2 x 1080Ti GPUs' and go up to 4 GPU when $ will permit.

As such , I would like your advise about the CPU to choose (this is my last item to pick) between Intel Xeon W-2135 (or 2145) and Intel Core i9-7900X.

Neural network modeling? Jesus..... I presume that's heavily threaded, no? If so, then a better option might be ditching intel altogether and getting a Threadripper 2990WX.

Threadripper is your better choice for more PCIE lanes and more cores/threads. Budget on the build? X299 is hotter and older while X399 is better.

Tks, but won’t go with AMD as it does not support Deep Learning (Machine Learning) from software stand point.

Xeon W-2135 has 4 more PCIE lanes than 7900X, I will probably go with Xeon.
