No, it won't be compatible. You need an lga 771 motherboard that supports that Xeon. The best CPU you can use on that motherboard is a Q9650. The $30-50 you spend on a Q9650 used, would be better spent on an Athlon 200ge a B450 motherboard and 2x4GB memory kit for around $170-190. You could then upgrade to an Ryzen 5 later on and sell the Athlon 200ge.I like to upgrade my core 2 quad q6600 to x5460 xeon i need help will it work on my g41m p28?
It can work, but I said that it won't, because honestly most people asking would never be able to figure it out and would likely brick their motherboard. So unless the OP actually has need of a Xeon, a Q9650 with a new cooler would be the best option in my opinion.G41M-P28 is not on the S771 compatibility list. G41M-P26, G41M-P33 and G41M-P34 are all tested to be compatible so it is very likely G41M-P28 would work too, you'd just have to merge the Xeon microcodes into the BIOS yourself.
I can you teach how??G41M-P28 is not on the S771 compatibility list. G41M-P26, G41M-P33 and G41M-P34 are all tested to be compatible so it is very likely G41M-P28 would work too, you'd just have to merge the Xeon microcodes into the BIOS yourself.

The issue at this point isn't whether it's compatible, the Xeon x5470 can work on your motherboard. The problem is, you have to modify your motherboard in two ways and buy an adapter for the Xeon CPU. First, you need to find an already modded bios file or create one to update your motherboard to work with the Xeon. The second is you need to modify the motherboard socket so the lga771 Xeon CPU fits into the socket designed for lga775 CPUs. There are alignment tabs on the lga775 socket that are there to stop you installing other CPU not designed for it. The Xeon CPU adapter is very cheap and can be bought on ebay, at least where I live. I have no idea what markets you have access to, so you might not even be able to get the adapter. And can the x5470 compatible on my motherboard? If so i might just buy the x5470 if not then ill stick with the x5460 one😁
