Xerox (M760) ink jet - no yellow

I have a rarely used printer but despite a thorough cleaning (even using
supplied solvents) there is no yellow print.

I wonder if there is some other problem that I might be able to fix.

I have wiped the electrical contacts on the cartridge holder but thats the
only other thing I have found.

Any ideas?

I got a M750. installed new black cartridge, not refill, and still
does not print black. Tried head cleaning (black), used up ink and
still does not print black. any ideas???

Hmm I didn't expect to be answering questions!

I would be worth removing the carrier which the cartridge sits in and
cleaning the print head. I would check if you get ink coming out of the head
by tapping it gently on some damp tissue paper (when you have a new cart
with ink fitted!). If you don't then obviously there is a blockage. Even if
you do get some ink from the head I would try cleaning it, but that might
not solve anything.
You should find that the ink is soluable in water and so putting the
carrier, without the cart, under a running tap may help. But if it is dried
ink which is blocking then you'll need a solvent. Try the ink refill
companies for a cleaning kit.

Have you tried replacing the yellow ink cartridge? Both yellow dye and
pigment inks tend to settle or precipitate out and create clogs.

I'd try new ink for the yellow specifically.

Thanks for that suggestion.

I have just refilled all the colour carts and ink was definately flowing
from the yellow as the others. I believe that the channels from the carts to
the print head might still be blocked but I have done many cleans with
solvents. Indeed the printhead when tapped on some tissue leaves a mark for
each colour (tho' the yellow look more like black!) but the blue leaves
signifcantly more I think it is more likely to be an electrical problem in
that the yellow isn't getting the signal to fire.

Oh well, I don't know now what to suggest next. The black could be
damage form the wrong solvent, or maybe some type of
electrical/electronic fault that is overheating something.
