Question Xfinity DVR, no surround from HDMI?

I have a legacy Xfinity/Comcast DVR, can't seem to get surround from HDMI to work. Surround sound works fine with my DVR connected directly to my receiver via optical audio, but not when it's connected indirectly to my receiver via my TV's optical audio output. My TV is configured to pass through surroundsound, and works fine with my Blu-Ray player and Roku, just not my DVR.

I had/have this same issue and cannot for the life of me recall what I did to rectify.
I am fairly sure I am using optical to the receiver by way of TV output.

IIRC the first time the issue was the HDMI cable version and later on I think I had to change settings either in my receiver or the TV. It cost me the ability to have surround on my PC whatever that solution was, lol. I wish I could be more helpful.
