ok that makes sense thanks would you recommend crossfiring 2 r9 270x or getting a r9 280x i already have one 270x but dont want any crossfire headaches never used two cards before so unsure if its a breeze or nightmare read about microstuttering ect

They both basically do the same thing only crosfire is for AMD cards, sli is for nvidia cards.

Remember that its always generally more beneficial to buy a better single card than to use these.

Advantages of AMD cards, Cheaper, Traditionally Lower power, more of a no frills simple approach to things.

Advantages of Nvidia cards, Typically better performance though you can pay a lot more for this, more features like g-sync/sheild. I find the drivers a lot more reliable though game performance is more driver/optimization dependent.

I've always had bad experiences in trying to get AMD drivers to install and am currently in love with my 2 GTX680 cards, so if buying today I'd go with a 780ti anytime :)

Its generally better to use one better card than to use two inferior cards. You get no micro stuttering, driver issues etc.

The perfomance of 2 r9 270x will be better than a single r9 280x, but i recommend you get a single r9 280x as it will save you from the above mentioned problems of crossfire.

Yeah I'd hold on to your current card till it doesn't cut it anymore then replace it with a better one. I think xfire is only there to tempt people to spend more on cards who don't want to waste the money they spent already.
