XFX 285 GTX - Enough power? Bottleneck?

Dual monitor, 1920*1080 and 1440*900. Using the big one for gaming.

Hi.

My nVidia 260 GTX recently died, and I'm looking to replace it with a XFX 285 GTX.
Will my current power supply be capable of running this card?

With my 260 GTX, I could play Crysis at Very High with about 25-30 FPS, which is acceptable to me. Will my q9300 bottleneck the 285 so I will get less fps than with the 260?

285 needs minimum 575 watts and a 42 amp 12v rail but have you considered ati ? 5850 out performs a gtx 285 http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/radeon-hd-5850,review-31692.html,and you would bottle neck a bit

A GTX285 will be cutting it really close with your power supply, a 5850 uses significantly less power and would be well inside the safe range for the 520HX while costing you less assuming you can find one in stock.

What resolution do you play at as that will help determine the level of bottlenecking, but if you are playing crysis on ultra high there is no graphics card out there that will be CPU bottlenecked at 1680x1050 or higher.

A corsair 520watt is a quality brand name PSU that will be able to run a GTX285 without any issues. The 575 watt is an overestimation by Nvidia, and is only if you have a crappy power supply.

As others have said, get the ATI 5850 instead - it performs better, uses less power, is DX11 compatible, and about $50 cheaper.

Hi everyone, thanks for your very fast replies!

The 5850 is indeed incredibly appealing, and I actually found a site who has them in stock!

I perhaps forgot to add it, but I play on 1920*1080 Fullscreen. I only use my 1440*900 screen for MSN/internet browsing/whatever.
