XFX 4850 1GB VS. XFX 4850 512MB

I am looking to buy a new GPU, and I'm a bit limited on money. I need help deciding which card to get. I mainly play call of duty 4 and 5 right now and its on the lowest settings, with no AA. And i get around 30 FPS average. My friend has the XFX 4850 1GB, and he plays on high and it looks amazing. I have a 17" monitor. So I am just wondering will the difference in 512MB and 1Gb make an impact on the graphics. Its only a 10 dollar diffence but, I am very limited on money. Also what does the ram mean in GPU's. Any suggestions will be great, thanks.

For a 17" monitor get 512MB, you wont get a benefit from 1GB until you are running at 1680x1050 or higher.

You just need a 4670 or 9600 GT 4830 is ok and 9800GT also 4850 is pretty overkill.....

Although if you really want a 4850 use a 512 MB you dont need a GB

Do you have any suggestions for the 4670 card? Thanks guys this is greatly appreciated. Or actually which card would you suggest I get doesnt matter which one it is. Thanks

Phenom II X4 Deneb 3.0 Ghz, 4GB Crucial ballistix tracer, GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-US2H, 160 GB Hard drive.

For that system, I'd say go for a 4850. I think they are only $100 or so, and you never know what your future needs will be. A 4850 I think would give better "balance" to your system (in other words, all the components would be pretty good). And really, even at 1280x1024, a 4850 can still be slowed down. I have two systems with 4850s going to 1280x1024 monitors, and there are games (albeit at high settings) where they are just enough card.
