XFX 6970 Crossfire Overheat BC2

So I was playing my computer with Crossfire XFX HD 6970s in it and after playing the Witcher 2 for awhile I decided to switch over to Bad Company 2 and play that for awhile, after about 45 min or so of gameplay my graphics card's I believe started to overheat because BC2 froze completely, sounds freezing as well, the whole pc was frozen. I was forced to mainly reboot. The confusing thing is my graphics cards have 2 fan blowing on the directly along with 6 other fans throughout my pc, they are also spaced out from each other in crossfire, neither card is touching anything, so what could be the problem

get MSI afterburner and monitor the temps while running Kombustor that is packaged with it. Kombustor will stress your cards and make them very hot. If that's the problem, you will see your temps rise ALOT and you will know that you have to re configure air current in your system
