Pc specs:
I7 950 with corsair h60 cooler
16 gb ram
Gigabyte g1 guerrilla mobo
Xfx 7870 dd gpu
lg e2211 monitor
650w coolermaster gpu
so I decided to upgrade my gpu to the 7870. After installation when I start up, everything seems to work fine other than my monitor which says 'no signal.' I can hear the login chime, so everything else seems to be starting up fine.
I could believe that it's a psu issue, but my previous card, the gtx560oc, has almost exactly the same requirements and the same configuration of pcie cables. If I remove the 7870 and replace it with the 560 it works without an issue.
I've spent the last 2 days reading through this forum, which has been very thorough and helpful, but I haven't managed to resolve the issue. I have reset the cmos, flashed my bios with the most recent from gigabyte, changed the settings in bios from pci to pci x16-1 and 2.
surely if the gpu wasn't working then it wouldn't get to the login screen? this leads me to believe that there is an issue between my monitor and the power management on my gpu.
I really need some help and it will be most appreciated. The only solution I can think of is to exchange the 7870 for the gtx 660. I don't want to do that as this card seems to have better specs.
thanks.
