I just exchanged my 660 ti with 50 dollar for a xfx 7950 hoping to get a little better performance in gaming. This decision is based on the advice of the sales guy and the benchmarks online.

But I cannot believe how much my fps is dropped from using 7950 instead of 660 ti. I was getting 30-40 fps in smoke with 660 ti. and with the 7950, 30-40 fps seems to be the "normal" fps.

I don't understand this, I installed the drivers and everything properly, how is this happening?

There is seriously something wrong with your card. I get waaayyyy better number than you??

That may be, but I get much better FPS than 17... On that exact map filled with players.

Do a test, I get this for both the 660 ti and 7950.

Try riding in a tank as secondary(turrent) , and have your friends blow up a tank infront of you while you are zoom-aiming in the tank and try moving your mouse.

I have been playing BF3 for some time and have never noticed that low FPS, i have fraps on permanently.

well I don't know then, it is either my spec or both the 660ti and 7950 i got is defective. which I think is unlikely.

well, total i spent 309.99 on this card, so i plan on getting a 30 dollar rebate and then sell this out as a 99% new card with maybe 300.

330 left (hopefully). hopefully stay within the 380 range. what card SHOULD I get with this budget?

There is no other option but the HD7950 or GTX660ti. And I don't think either you had was faulty.

ah....so it is the best in this price range.....I might get 660 ti again lol, cheaper, cooler.

AND, I have been experiencing bf3 crash without message, game just exit out of windows.

temp is as high as 79C, does it have anything to do with it?

79C is not hot for a GPU. Check your windows system log for an error after a crash.

I still think this is software/driver related. Or your HDD is giving issues. Do a Check disk.

well now is 80C. That's just ridiculous im not even OCing. and the 660 ti is givine the same performance with 11 C less.
I just had a clean install of my windows and 12.11 beta clean install. Im going to check my HDD with a boot CD.

just checked, hdd is not the problem.

btw what problem are you referring to? the bf3 crash or the smoke lag?

ur all wrong, lol, the gtx 660ti and 7950 are comparable and onced overclocked, the 660ti beats an overclocked 7950, the 7950 is a fast card but that extra 1gig of vram doesnt do anything since its hardly using up all the 2 gigs out of 3 it has.

whoever said 7950 is better than gtx needs to check actually benchmarks could u have it backwards.

Then how about some proof??? Post us some of these benchies?

Easy to just type.

AND I would like to see the OC numbers too...

lol heed your own advice. Don't feed the fanboy fire...

"unless you're willing to physically voltmod the card"

MSI did that and got burned HARD...

EDIT : Note what card he owns...

i can easily link benchmarks from a few games, u guys are off ur rockers, also cards cant overclock to 40% stock settings, thats just wrong.

there pretty close together, imo some games favour amd and some nvidia, but yeah overall i think overclocked 7950 vs gtx 660ti both are very easily matched up,
