XFX 7970 BE Voltage Locked

I recently purchased a XFX 7970 card and was pleased with it until I want to try and overclock it. Only then did I realized that the XFX cards now come with a locked voltage control. I can return it to amazon for the next month, does anyone know of a version of this card that does has unlocked voltage control?

Yeah sorry to say that XFX has become a overpriced and useless brand.

Its cheaper too. AND has better cooling and components. You can hit 1150MHz with it easily.

Novuake I couldn't agree more. I have been a long time xfx fan but after my recent experience I'll NEVER buy another xfx product. 4 months ago I purchased their 7970 ghz edition card and about 30 days ago it fried, and by fried I mean computer won't "post" with card installed. Their warranty pollicy is horrible and it will likely take you a month to get your replacement. I actually read their warranty pollicy which states they do not actually have to replace the card you send them with the same brand ie. AMD or Nvidia. On top of that they do not offer an advanced replacement option, I even offered to let them hold the full retail value from my bank account to make sure they got their defective card back.... "nope I do not have the ability to do that" I actually paid not only for shipping to them but put a return shipping lable in the box so I didn't have to wait for their 5 to 7 day gound shipping on the return. About 2 weeks ago I received my replacement 7970 ghz and all was good, until last night when the exact same failure took place and again after only 2 weeks I have a brand new dead XFX 7970 ghz edition video card. God I wish I would have done some research instead of just buying from the brand I had used in the past.

Yeah, if something seems to good to be true(like XFX limited lifetime warranty) it probably is. XFX used to make GREAT quality though. This just is not the case anymore.

So found out XFX has done another Silent revision using the same model number in their latest 7970 rendition, this one deviates away from AMD's refference design. Unfortunately will be unable to Water Cool the replacement card they are sending me with EK's full coverage water block. AFAIK the R7970 DD cards are failing from crappy Capacitors/VRM's and the Double Dissipation heat sync is actually blocking air to the last row of Vrm's. Now a logical company that truely cared about quality would have just modified the heat sync and used higher quality componants, but not XFX, no no they make a silent revision using the same model number as previous gen utilizing an entirely different PCB with extra tall VRM's so everyone that's already spent $130 on their refference water block is SOOL (Sh!t out of Luck)
