Hi guys.
So ive got currently a XFX AMD Radeon 4890HD in my system which I got about 4 years ago when I build my PC.
Last year, the water cooling system sprung a leak, and I had to replace a few parts and for a while, it looked like my graphics might have had to be replaced also, as it was swimming in coolent. I dried it, cleaned it etc and did all the tricks for a week or two with it, and lo and behold, on booting my newly rebuilt system, it worked! However since then the system has been a little unstable, and im 99% sure its the GPU causing the crashes and screen issues, but its been tolerable. Now though its starting to turn the display black and forcing me to reset to get it on again. Its definetly not the monitor at fault.
Anyway, its about time for a new card anyway now, so I cant decide what to get.

So far the XFX AMD Radeon HD 7870 Double D (Tahiti LE) 2GB GDDR5, and the SAPPHIRE AMD Radeon R9 270X Vapor-X OC 2GB GDDR5 have both peaked my interest, and looking at the tech details both outperform my current card.
Trouble is, I cant decide which one is better. The 7870 seems to be the best/fastest performer, but then the 270X is newer, more advanced and only slightly slower than the XFX card so probably the better card to go for..
Also, anyone know the size differences between the 3 cards mentioned? My 4890 just about fits into my case, are the other two bigger, smaller, same size etc? Doesnt seem to be dimentions given on most sites, and the ones I found are different scales (one example if I converted correct numbers, the 270X is double the length of the 4890?!)

Apologies for the long posting!

270x is based off of 7950 which is better than the 7870. The 270x would definitely be my choice.
7870 = 40FPS BF4 Ultra
270x = 45FPS BF4 Ultra

Cheers.
Have seen various things about the 270X is a repackaged 7850 while others saying 7870 etc

Not true. The 270 and 270X are both based on the HD 7870. The main difference is the 270/270X have 5.6Ghz GDDR5 vs the 4.8 GDDR5 of the HD 7870. The 270/270X also have boost clocks while the 7870 did not. The 270X has higher clocks than the 270.
