Hello everyone,

I recently got an xfx r7700 from a friend that updated their own card. It was working fine in their system 3 days ago so I ruled out the faulty video card issue.

I bought a new power supply (from 250w to 500w) since the card recommends a minimum of 400w. After installing the PSU I started up the computer to verify everything was working, which it was. I downloaded the crimson drivers from AMD's website and installed the AMD manager. I then went into msconfig, selected boot in safe mode (minimal), exited w/o restarting, "win -x" to Device Manager, then disabled, not uninstalled, the integrated graphics from my motherboard (computer specs at the end of post). I then powered down, installed the graphics card, verified the connections were solid, plugged the monitor into the card, then powered up. Black screen. No beeps, no POST, nothing.

I powered off using long press, removed the new card, plugged back into the integrated graphics, then restarted and everything came up ok. I have spent the past three nights looking for answers.

I have also tried looking for BIOS updates, since my motherboard is PCIe 2.x, maybe it needed updating to support PCIe 3.x for the GPU to be recognized, however there are no updates.

Please, help me with this. I appreciate any and all advice and will try to be as timely as possible with my responses.

If I haven't covered enough information, please let me know and I will post it.

Thank you again, in advance, for any help provided.

Solution
Check carefully that both the HD7770 and the PCIe slot contacts are not damaged nor dirty etc.

Make sure the HD7770 is inserted properly into the PCIe slot.

Confirm 6 pin connector from PSU is connected properly to the HD7770.

Clear CMOS.

If still have problems, try to measure voltage output at the 6 pin connector that goes to the HD7770 using a digital multimeter.

If 6 pin outputs seem OK, then please verify again that the HD7770 works in another computer.

This is good for covering basics, and I appreciate the answer. Would you mind explaining why you recommend clearing CMOS when I had not changed any BIOS settings?

Thanks again for the help!
