XFX R9 290x vs EVGA SSC 970

Hi all, I'm in the market for a new graphics card and while looking on Newegg I saw that there was a pretty great sale going on. R9 290x is currently $299 and the 970 is $325. Out of the two which should I get? I've looked at some side-by-side benchmarks and from what it looks like I'd be paying $25 extra for ~10-15 fps.

If you can handle the heat and wattage of the 300W R9-290X furnace, that is a good deal. I payed nearly $500 back when I bought mine.
