Hi all,

I've recently purchased an XFX R9 380 DD for my rig; my system specs are:

AMD A10 7700K Quad Core APU
GIGABYTE GA F2A68HM- HD2 FM2+
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR3-1600 Memory

It seems it has trouble running GTA V and other games at 60 fps, which, by the way, my older R7 260x could get 50 fps on average in GTA V. The R9 380 cant even go above 30.

I really am confused and need help fixing this, thanks

It sounds like the new card isn't really a gaming card. To be honest with you, XFX is meant more for visuals as in movies and TV shows. In the times I have worked with them, I haven't known them to be good gaming cards.

I have a Sapphire r9 380 and using a q8300 and getting crap fps in GTA V. I think it could be drivers because I keep getting driver crashes. The r9 380 is more equivalent to an r9 285 so it should have better performance than your r7 260x.

Are you using the 4gb or 2gb version? If you got 2gb and run over the limit your fps will fall.

Use the AMD driver removal tool to clean up and remove all the video drivers on the system, and then reinstall the last AMD 15.11 Catalyst driver (not the Crimson 15.11 or new 16.1 beta driver).

By default the drivers will restrict the fan speed to a pretty low setting, if you want more speed before the GPU clock is throttled, then allow the fans to run faster than the default setting.

I'm using the 4GB version

I know this thread is a little old but I'm having a very similar issue, but it won't let me download the catalyst 15.11 drivers from amd.com it only lets me get 15.12 crimson or 16.1.1 crimson hotfix drivers. Is there a way to get these older drivers?
