hey i got one xfx 4850 1gb graphic card and im thinking bout getting another one because the price dropped, and putting them in crossfire. i bought my for 150 and now its 124 ill wait a bit more for it to drop. im thinking bout keeping my rig for like 3 years or more and was wondering should i buy another one of those cards and do crossfire or should i just wait and get a better one and get rid of the 4850 i got right now. because if i get a high end one then its still gonna run with the card that has the slower speed. So if i do crossfire will it really show effect and increase the frames, and just how much better is it then just one card?

thanks

What resolution are you running at? What cpu do you have? 4850 is a excellent card specially in cf. I would recommend cf but for 3 years im not sure if the card will hold up. You'll definitely have to drop some of the settings but it should run games solid for 2 years in my opinion.

Hopefully more titles will support CF in the future as well. As for right now, I can't justify utilizing CF for the few titles/games that do fully support it. I'll stick with the single, high end card for now. Just my .02.

running at 1440x900 and got a amd phenom 2 x2 550 black edition, and im pretty sure it should run games for 3 years or more but like u said might have to drop the settings to medium or so.

my old pc which is a pentium 4 2.8 ghz , 2gb of ram and 7600gs card it ran most games and i had it for like 4 years or so. i Could play left 4 dead on low settings but after they updated it it went to shyt. 🙁 lol

wow i never knew res bottlenecks, thought it was only between cpu and graphic cards. huh well i learned something new. and i will also get a 22 in monitor soon, dont know what res they run at but im getting sick of my 19in it seems small now i had it for to long, lol time to upgrade.

alot do, just name a title and it most likely takes advantage of cf/sli.

every game i play on my cf rig takes advantage of it. except some older titles like halo(not like i need cf advantage for it😛)
