Xfx radeon hd 7950 power supply 6 pin to 8 pin

Hello,
I purchases the xfx radeon HD 7959. It came with a 8 pin and a 6 pin power supply input. I only have to 6 pins. Will a 6 pin work for an 8 pin? What should I do?
