XFX Radeon R9 290 DD won't display

I just recieved my XFX Radeon R9 290 Double Dissipation that I ordered on Newegg. When I first put it in the slot plugged everything in and powered on it made this horrible noise so I turned it off removed the card and reinstalled it and it sounded fine, the fans came on, etc. but I got no display on my monitor.
I tried an HDMI as well as an DVI to HDMI that I had been using in each of the DVI slots on the card but still nothing.

I had been using an XFX GeForce 8600 GTS that was working fine and I've put that back in and it 's still fine.

So any thoughts on if there is something I can do to fix it?

It's hard to tell what happened. XFX are pretty awesome when it comes to returns. I have the exact same card and love it. Runs cool and silent.

It is an EVGA 850W B2 that I got a month ago.

My card did the same, its where it dosent pick a primary port, so use your primary and dont plug in any other monitor.
Restart your pc a few times then is should work.

I had an error where my new Radeon R9 290 DD card was not displaying, yet the lights would come on and everything seemed to work. Only problem was no display or power to my components! Solely a black screen! However, what worked for me was my MSI BIOS drivers were apparently not updated to par, thus it did not support my new GPU. Easy fix, just had to flash my BIOS, update the motherboard, and it worked great after that!
