XFX RX 480 4GB graphics card still good for gaming in 2018?

My neighbor is selling their Gpu, a XFX RX 480 4bg for $65 and I'm not sure if it is still good for gaming in 2018. I'm currently using a Geforec Gt 730 by nvidia and this card I can get now, and is inexpensive. Should I wait for the card prices top go down to buy a newer model or buy this one?

yeah it is fine if you dont go over 1080p
you will still max performance on most modern games with that.

An RX 480 for $65 sounds like a great deal. On average, it should be a bit faster than a GTX 1060 3GB, and not too far behind a GTX 1060 6GB or RX 580, and still should be a good card for running the latest games at 1080p. Compared to a GT 730, it's many times as fast, and should provide a far better gaming experience.

You might want to make sure you have a reasonably capable power supply though, as it can draw up to around 200 watts under load. Do you know what kind of PSU you have?

Yeah, its 450Watt, 80+, bronze rated.

A 450 watt PSU from a relatively decent company would likely be enough for an RX 480, but there are also many cheap, off-brand PSUs that can't maintain anywhere near their max capacity for more than short bursts. Also, some lower-end PSUs might not have the proper power connectors for the card. An RX 480 4GB will likely require the PSU to have at least one PCIe 6 or 8-pin power cable.

Even if you needed to replace the PSU though, $65 for an RX 480 4GB would be a good price.

I've decided to get the card because as you say it is an upgrade from my 730, and for a low price. However I'll need to check with him and see if it has been used for mining or not.

Being used for mining most likely wouldn't be a problem, so long as the card is properly functioning now. Most mining cards should still be fine for gaming afterward. Of course, I have no way of knowing how trustworthy your neighbor might be either. : P

And that PSU should likely be fine enough, and appears to have the proper power cables that an RX 480 might require.
