[SOLVED] xfx rx 570 4gb temps

I've been testing for the last 2 weeks with undervolting , fans , OC etc. I like to run my gpu with max 45% fan speed so it's silent , recently I managed to get 1300mhz core and 1850mhz memory with 1112mv but the temps are scary , got up to 83C in intensive gaming.

Are these temps safe or will drastically reduce the gpu's life span? If yes , then what should be the max safe temperature?

I try to keep the temps under 80C. At 83C you might see some thermal throttling but no damage.

There's no thermal throttling cause I upped the power limit by 50% , so It's a stable 1300mhz core , but I'm worried if I should run the gpu this hot.

83C is still safe, if you were to get close to 90C+ then that would cause some concern.

Ran a 780 SLI setup for a few years with the top GPU around 83C (85C Max) and it never ruined the card as it's still running strong in a friends system and usually AMD's have a higher thermal limit (AMD R9 290 used to game at 88C without damage).

I had an r9 270x that died on me , I ran it around 80C cause I wanted it to be silent. I bought it already used and it worked 3 more years after it died. Did the same with this rx 570 , bought it very cheap 3 months ago , hoping to last at least 2 years at these harsh temps.

Instead of lowering the fan speed have you considered getting a more sound proof case or making adjustments to the case in increase it quietness?

Nah , I'm not that of a sound freak , I currently increased the fan to 50% and it's a bit noticeable and after a few gaming sessions it didn't go over 79C so I guess I'll leave it like this. I can get better temps if I put the fan on 60% , it won't go over 70C but it's loud and annoying since I use speakers and not a headset .

I see, yea I don't use a headset when playing mmo's but I usually have Netflix running on a iPad below my screen so between the noise from both I don't usually hear the fans.

I come with an update , actually the problem with these high temps was the bad application of thermal paste done by me(i spread it over the chip) , so i repasted it with a tiny dot on the chip and now the GPU is quiet at 48% fan speed and temps not going over 68C in games with 1.062mv , 1320mhz core and 1850mhz memory.

That sounds more in line with my experiences (voltage and repaste temps)
