Hello Guys,

This week i bought a new XFX RX 580 8gb GPU to replace my older one thats gone (XFX Radeon HD 7870 2gb). I got the GPU, installed correctly, formatted the computer with all drivers updated, then i started CS:GO to test it up and got LOWER fps then when i had my HD 7870. Now im getting FPS drops down to 150, but with my HD 7870 i easly got my fps stuck on 270~299, never dropping down then 220 fps. I tested the game running the MSI Afterburn and my CPU doesnt overcome the 25% usage mark, while my GPU do not overcome the 50% usage mark, even when im getting 150 fps. The GPU temperature is likely 55 C.

I tested up the game with a DP cable ( to be able to use freesync + 144hz + 1ms), and another test with a DVI cable (144hz + 1ms), and got same results.

Does it even make sense to upgrade from a HD 7870 (7 years old) to a RX 580 and start getting FPS drops?

If someone can help, id be grateful.

Thanks in advance.

My settings are:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600
MOBO: MSI b350m Gaming PRO
RAM: 2x8gb 2133mhz
GPU: XFX RX 580 8gb
FONTE: Corsair CX 600

obs: sorry for bad english, im not native.

Ryzen - DDR Maximum Frequency Support Table(For better DDR4 compatibility, it is recommended to follow the table below to install DDR4 modules. Please refer to memory support list for more details.)
Maximum DIMMA1 DIMMB1
DDR4-2667 SR -
DDR4-2667 DR -
DDR4-2667 SR SR
DDR4-2400 DR DR
SR:Single-rank DIMM, 1R x4 or 1R x8
DR Dual-rank DIMMs, 2R x4 or 2R x8

Faster memory can be used for OC.

An RX580 is more powerful than the HD7870 so there's definitely a settings difference here. It may be graphics AMD setting, game setting, or both. Try adjusting settings to get the performance you want.
Yeah, i know that, but i have no idea what to change to solve it. I already up power +50% on wattman, did the OC+ tutorial from XFX and still dropping. Im suspecting thats maybe the driver, cz its the only thing im using different from my HD 7870, it now has a ALR + R radeon overlay (pretty good id say), ill reinstall an older driver and see what happens.

im still using the same mems that i was using with my older GPU, i dont want to overclock, i only want to, at least, get the same stability as my old HD 7870.

Thank u both for the responses, but i still need help !
