xmp in bios and what does it do

there isd an option on xmp in bios profile 1. I have google result. it brings up overclock stuff i do not plan to overclock now or in future my ? is what it does to boost any performance or does it do anything differnt please help many thanks. here is my latest build.

No reason for it to be unstable. The XMP profiles are tested to work properly. Beyond those profiles stability is not guaranteed.

thanks for replying yea i had read this b4 but i do not plan to overclock as id like to stay here a while longer llf na am not in todays Gen. ? should i enable it on my system i do gaming and music production. and surf the web.

I'll give you an example. Let's say your motherboard supports DDR3 1600 and you bought DDR3 1866 memory. XMP can set the memory to run at 1866 for you without having to set everything manually. The memory has to be compatible with the board as verified by the board makers QVL (qualified vendors list) that is available at the board makers website.

ah ok i have a crucial ballistixs sport ddr4 8gb 2400mhz in bios ity think it says it running at 2400mhz ram frequency not sure just enable it i dont notice any improvement or performance

In most cases you don't notice much difference except maybe in benchmarks. The difference is only in milliseconds.

ah ryt ok i will enable to see what ffps i get not that i need to as playing gtav i get 90fps black ops 3 over 60 and disonured a whopping 125fps
