So I recently got the i7-8700k to go in my ASUS ROG Z370-H motherboard. So I’ve been trying to overclock but I heard XMP needs to be enabled to manually do so. But In the BIOS, it doesn’t give me the option to enable XMP but I don’t know why? How can I fix this so it can be enabled? Thanks!

(PS i would attach a picture but I am unsure how to do so)

Solution
You don't need XMP to overclock.

There is no point in overclocking 2133 memory. You won't overclock it to any reasonable point to have profit. And there is no point in overclocking 8700k either for now. Unless you really REALLY need those gains.

That said, XMP is enabled here: enter bios and go to AI Tweaker tab then click drop down by AI Overclock Tuner and set it to XMP mode. Provided your memory has an XMP profile. If there is no XMP option, you memory ahs no XMP profile. You would need a better memory module like some 3000Mhz modules advertised to have XMP. They work at 2666Mhz and XMP sets them to 3000Mhz if chosen.

XMP has basically nothing to do with overclocking CPU. Go to AI Overclock Tuner and choose some manual mode. You...
XMP is for RAM operating ABOVE the normal memory controller specifications. In this case your memory controller supports 2666mhz natively. Your RAM would need to be faster than 2666mhz to enable XMP. Your RAM is well below the native speed at 2133mhz. You should have bought DDR2666 minimum, DDR3200 recommended. You could try to manually overclock your RAM. But I doubt you get much.

Best idea is to try to exchange your RAM for DDR 3200.
