I recently got a kit of 16 (2x8) gigabyte corsair vengeance lp ram, and i hav en a88x - g45 gaming motherboard from msi that is fm2 socket. When i started the computer for the first time with the memory sticks in, it turned on fine. and i wanted to see how much they were clocked at, since they said 1600mhz on the packaging, i saw in task manager and it said 1333mhz, so i went to my motherboard biios after a restart, and i scrolled down and found a setting saying ( XMP ) and i activated it and restarted the computer, then i checked in task manager, and it said that the memory sticks were clocked at 1600 mhz, so i think it worked. But something i was wondering, if XMP is an intel specific function. Why would it then be on an AMD motherboard? is it safe to use even though my processor or motherboard are not Intel. Is it okay? i just thought so, if not why would they have a setting for it in the bios? please answer :)
