Hello there. I have overwritten EEPROM. I have tried running this http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Xonar_EEPROM_Failure but when I boot from CD everything seems to be working fine, it gets to #32 of the fix then seems to do nothing after wards. If I press ‘Enter’ it says “Exiting...” then just goes to another line A//: etc and doesn’t seem to do anything afterwards, the only thing I can do is restart my PC and then that doesn’t enable the fix and my EEPROM is still overwritten.

I hope you can reply to this

Thank you

Colin McMillan

Why did you flash the factory eeprom settings in the first place may i ask.
I mean what was the need to do it.
I take it the card does not work, but if it still does then your lucky. Some eeprom chips, require daylight to erase the rom, and flush the old data, normaly the chip is coverd by a sticker ect than can be removed. I`m not saying it is the case but from what I remember about some of them it was a way to wipe the data already on there allowing you to write new data to them. In some cases if you did not do this any other firmware update, or re programming of the eeprom would fail. In other cases you had to buy an eeprom programmer board, and take the chip out of the device and place it in the programmer to get past the locks stopping it from being programmed. so it may be the case also. But then again that is a guess.

I havn't done. I freshly installed Windows last week and have only used my computer a few times since then because I didn't have sound, I got the new sound card today and the only fix I could see was the one I listed above. I'm not even sure what flashing eeprom would do let alone actually do it 😛

Anyway your in luck, I don`t know if you are aware but re programming of the eeprom needs to be done in a pure Dos environment, you cannot run it through windows or a dos box. that could be one of your problems. You will need to find a way of running dos 6.22 or something. Then go here and have a read, there is an Iso that you can download and burn to a Dvd that is bootable. And a few pointers on getting the device to work again.

Good luck I hope it helps you a bit more.
