Hi all,

I've had an issue with my Xonar DG sound card pretty much as long as I've had it (~18 months)

When listening to music, videos or games, the card preforms fine then randomly (may happen after a short time or a while after outputting audio) the sound will god very quiet for a short period of time, then it will completely cut out, with no audio output.

A quick fix to this I've discovered it to either turn the SPIDF output off then back on again, or to flick through the inputs (headphone, 2 channel, 4 channel) then back to 5.1 channel. After doing one of the above, the sound restores to full volume again, until it randomly decides to go quiet/cut out again.

I've search the net thoroughly and cannot find anyone who is experiencing this same issue. Initially though the card was faulty, so I got it replaced with a new one. started off fine, then same issue.

I've tired swapping PCI ports around, it appears to fix it temporarily, then starts it all over again.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit, latest asus xonar drivers and a Logitech Z5500D system via optical out

If anyone has any information on a fix, It would be great if you could let me know!

Cheers!

(note: I have disabled all on-board (realtek i think) sound via BIOS, disabled AMD HDMI out via device manager...don't know if they would impact any functioning of the sound card)

nobody!?

I've figured out when i select 'spdif pass-through' as default device I have no problem, but when i select 'speakers' as default device it has the same problem (in control panel under sound).

I sound quality doesn't sound as good via spidf pass-through (not as deep bass, treble isn't as clear)...from what i gather spdif pass-through is just bypassing the sound card and letting the speaker decode the sound (PCM/bit-stream type of setup)
