Look this: <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?description=19-103-303&DEPA=1" target="_new">XP 1600 AGOIA Code</A> at only US$53

For those who like to overclock and save money…… this CPU almost guarantees OC to XP 2100 at only 1.85 V.

Just see the OC results for AGOIA code at <A HREF="http://www.overclockers.com" target="_new">http://www.overclockers.com</A> in the CPU database.

Yeah they're doing wicked overclocks. I've seen people do near 2GHz @ ~2V.

I almost just want to pick one up just to have an "extra" Athlon. Beats the hell out a Wilty 1800

Soon enough, Intel will make the i845s...imagine dual channel Sdram...*shudder*

Pray tell, you don't own a Wilty 1.8 now do you?!

Oh no, not me, but I pity my poor friend that chose a 1.8 Wilty with Pc-133 Sdr on an i845 board over a cheaper and better Athlon XP system. Oh, it also came with the power of an EVGA Tnt2 M64 graphics!

I'll do that for sure. After that I'm going to think what to do with my poor Duron at 170 MHz FSB.... Hope I'll notice any difference.

Hey I have a 1800xp but am thinking bout buying this chip (1600) and overclocking the fsb to 166 and trading my 1800xp... am I mad? Will I see a difference in performance? (KT333 soltek)

XP 1600 at 166 MHz FSB is about XP 2100-XP 2200.
I really don’t think that improvement is eye noticeable. I mean, if you benchmark the system you’d see better numbers for sure but in day by day working will be the same.

I think that your next up-grade step should be XP 2800+ to really notice an improvement in performance.

BTW you could easily overclock XP 1800 up to XP 2000.

You heard of that model before? It's either a Pentium 4 1.6Ghz Willamette or a 1.8Ghz Wilty. With 512Mb of Pc-133 Sdr, on an i845 board...probably an oem brand like DFI or QDI...some cheapo brand. And the Tnt2? Ha...haha...

I can't imagine Windows XP on anything less than 256mb of ram...even that's painfully slow loading at times.

Its not bad running 256mb of ram with xp. My older computer had a p3 p33 with 256mb of ram. It wasn't bad.

I've got 2 comps both running WinXP Pro. 1 has 256MB RAM and the other 512MB. I can really see the difference. Going in and out of apps, the 256MB really lags compared to the 512MB one.
