Recently I purchased a new Xp2500+ chip with a ECS L7S7A2 board. Well I had problems getting the chip to run at Xp2500(default is Xp1900} so I did a Bios update. After the update I went back and set the bios. When I rebooted I thought their was a problem or glitch in the matrix cuz the bios screen was saying Xp 3200+ .... So I went to windows to verify and it sees an Xp 3200 2.2Ghz chip. So after a short dance of joy Im thinking somebody's got to know about this but yet to my dismay I couldnt find any info about anybody else doing this. So please if someone else has this setup and has got the same results please let me know...Oh by the way I think the this setup combo is around $120 now...

the xp2500 is showing xp3200 because its running at 200 fsb
the stock fsb is 166mhz
your over clocking the processor
if all is stable and temps are good -no problem
if not you can adjust the fsb in Bios , usually under advanced options

But then one quick question? If that is the case, which I'm pretty sure are right, this chip and board is suppose to be a 333FSB and I'm only hitting 200. Whats with that?

the front side bus is doubled from the setting in the BIOS, hence the DDR in DDR-RAM (it means Double Data Rate) if you set the bus speed to 133 in the bios it get's doubled to 266, 166 to 333 and 200 to 400, etc.

This is due to the sending of signals to the ram twice per clock signal instead of once like standard SD-RAM.

And yes, if you increased the fsb to 200 (400 DDR) and you did not adjust the multiplier you are overclocking your processor. It's good in that it's basically like getting the extra speed for free, just make sure you monitor your temperatures now.

thought you had to up the Vcore to around 1.7 in order to get stable readings from 200 FSB from a barton 2500+? I have read that certain motherboards incorectly read the barton 2500+ sometimes as 3200... Usualy an up to date bios update will fix it but you just said you did that already. Hmmm, i dunno.
