XP and Hyperthreading

Hey guys, could someone tell me about Hyperthreading? I have asked about this in other post, but no one has commented."That may be a hint in itself!" I have a new Intel P4 3.0e processor. The first thing that I would like to know is if this statement is correct-"Hyperthreading is only available with Windows XP"? Secondly, what is hyperthreading and the advantages and disadvantages"if any"? I have Win 2K Pro on my current system, and am trying to decide between 2000 Pro or Windows XP. Thanks in advance!
