I have them all running under XP, though TR1 works best from GliDos.

All Tomb Raider games wok with XP, if you have trouble with the first game
look at
www.glidos.net , for the others you can get XP Patches for example at
http://www.laraunlimited.de/downloads2/downloads2.htm#Anker2downloads2

Without patches?

Thanks again,

also tr2 and tr3 have some cutscene playing bugs with certain cards
(nvidia brand)

the games still play but you only see one or two second of the cutscenes
before they lock up, forcing you to ESC out of them to play the game

this is not an xp issue exactly but it still persists with the newer cards
so I thought Alias could get a heads up on that.

I have managed to get tr2s cutscenes playing by borrowing a dll file
directly from the cd, but tr3 is still a mystery.

Do tell me how you got TR:UB to work. I was hoping for an installer program,
like TR:1, but I haven't found anything yet.

You don't need any patch for TR:UB, but you still need VDMSound to get
sound working. If you want to use 3D acceleration (Glidos) then you have
to install 3dfx version of TR:UB, for example from
http://www.3dgamers.com/games/tombraider/downloads/

There is also free Glidos alternative: dgvoodoo, I use it, but it's
slower and more difficult to use:

Um, as I recall, you just run that disks installer [install.exe] there
is a good set of instructions on how to do this over at www.glidos.net
it won't be hard to find :)
BTW, gliDos is what you really want to run TR1 with, and TR UB
natrually. You will find instructions for VDMSound also, which is
needed for getting the sound and cd music right for a DOS session under
XP.

Paul, didn't I also see you over at a.g.h-l? and a.g.doom?
McG.

No, actually, I never got TR:1 to install, even with the Glidos thing and
VDMSound, until Glider (or someone) pointed me to a separate installer program
put together for TR:1 on Glidos. Now it works great for TR:1. I just need
something that'll do the same thing for TR:UB.

"a.g.h-l"? I'm going to guess that you mean "Highlander". I read a little,
but I don't think I posted at all, or maybe once or twice. Got bored.

Otherwise, I probably don't have a clue as to what you meant.

Never been to "a.g.doom", though....or maybe I did, once, trying to get some
help. Dunno. I'm old. Memory's never been all that great.

Manual install for TR UB would be to just drag the TOMBUB.EXE file over
that's needed from the \voorush folder. You will need the CD in the
drive in that case. OR you can find the complete TR UB files where
Dracman pointed out:
awwweee just go here (free) everything you need for TR1 (rush also)

** Win2k and winXP hi-res with TR1
http://www.smokeypoint.com/glidos.htm

http://www.smokeypoint.com/3dfx.htm

instructions for setting up there also I believe.

Hope it helps!
