I think I fixed the problem.

I went to Ctrl Panel, System properties, Advanced, performance,
settings visual settings, and changed it to best performance. (except
for a tick for smooth edge of fonts)

That seemed to do the trick.

I think it is possible you have "Clear Type" enabled before and that caused
the blurring

Sun's latest java SDK causes it.
