XP Game Port and motherboards

Here's my problem. I'm stuck on the old Logitech Wingman Interceptor joystick. Failing to find a USB adapter to read it I've resorted to building a retro computer to accept the serial game port input. After revamping several XP computers and having 2 more built from scratch I'm told no motherboard since the advent of Win 7 supports the serial game port driver. Is this accurate? Where can I find a motherboard that will support a 2.66 quad core AND read the gameport? Or. . . does anyone know how to rewire the Interceptor to USB?

Thanks,
Lass Thompson

ASUS mobos have a connector (COM) ports, they are called TPM port. https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1006213/

They exist on both my wifes P8P67-LE and my Z97-A. The COM module however is not included, and is in the manual said to be purchased separately. No mention of where, and I can't locate any on ASUS' site.
They look like this: https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=asus+serial+port+connector&view=detailv2&&id=7A7CF44CB563C274DB1EAFFAA04DD5D57A077F11&selectedIndex=1&ccid=c%2fPEhP15&simid=608028449682229506&thid=OIP.M73f3c484fd791c06f7cc04354bdc3364o0

Thank you Nigel for your effort and information. The COM module you referred to is actually a different 15 pin configuration than the 15 pin DIN used for game ports. The game port was also referred to as the MIDI port. I guess my major question is: Are current 'retro' MBs unable to support the game port driver from the XP and earlier era? If so, is there a source for legacy MBs?

Thanks again for your input.
