I've had XP Pro (now up to sp2) installed on my (aging) HP Pavilion 7965
machine for 2+ years now, and performance is deteriorating. I presume this is
because I've installed and (partially) uninstalled many many programs and
bits of hardware over this time, and the ghosts of software past are still
trying to load themselves.

How do I tidy this up to regain some performance?

TIA
