XP LAN party hardware help

Hello guys I'm new to this forum thing and LAN parties. I'm trying to get a LAN party together for my friends bachelor party and I want to build XP machines that will play old school games. back in the day I had a Pentium D and a 9800gtx 512mb and it played decent games. I want to know if that will be enough to play games like left 4 dead 1-2, swat 4, doom 3, or is it overkill ( I am also open to AMD solutions). I will have to build 4 towers so I don't want to spend crazy money on them. just the basics for now. Thanks!

That kind of spec would be fine for those games.

Realistically, building those are going to be difficult to find parts & keep relatively cheap. Compare eBay and similar to some used rigs.

awesome thanks!.... and as far as video cards go? do you have any suggestions? I have found some cheap towers on craigs and they need some repair and hdds but the processor and ram are decent just need a video card
