My XP HOME machines install has gone bad. It wont load because of a NTLDR error on boot. I want to reinstall but need a .iso for home that i can use. My google searches have come back fruitless. Does anyone know of a trick to get xp to reinstall with this error or how to fix it or where i can d\l a copy to reinstall using the license sticker on the box?

Forum rules do not allow me to give you a link to an ISO from an unofficial source, but if the computer has a recovery partition, you can try that. On Dell machines, repeatedly press Ctrl+F11 at the Dell splash screen. On HP machines, press F10 for recovery at the BIOS screen. Other manufacturers have their own way of accessing the recovery partition. Just Google the make and model of your PC and add "recovery partition" to the end of your search. It'll tell you the key combination to enter the recovery partition.

If the machine was made before 2005, you probably won't have a recovery partition.

thanks for the info, unfortunately this dell machine does not respond to the CTRL+F11 command. It is pretty old so perhaps it is from the pre-recovery partion era.

If you can think of anything else please lmk, thanks.
